Joseph "Drig" Adrien Fournier

Joseph Adrien Fournier, a resident of Lewiston, Maine, passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 93. Known for his hard-working, humorous, devoted, loyal, and kind-hearted nature, Joseph left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Born on September 4, 1932, Joseph attended Saint Rose Grammar School and was known for his early morning dedication, waking up the milkman to deliver milk at just nine years old. He graduated from Jay High School in 1951 and furthered his education at MCI Prep School.

Joseph served as a Corporal in the US Army and dedicated 41 years to his career as a papermaker. After retirement, he cherished his time at Fox Ridge Golf Course as a starter and ranger, calling it his dream job. In 2004, he was honored with an induction into The Maine Baseball Hall of Fame.

He was married to his wife Rita for 22 years, and together they enjoyed dancing, hosting BBQs, spaghetti feeds, and family gatherings. Joseph was known for bringing fresh corn on the cob to every event. And could be found every morning enjoying breakfast at Rolly's made by Kenny or Jordan. His favorite was the waffles with strawberries and cream.

An avid golfer, Joseph achieved six holes in one and was a passionate cribbage player, participating in numerous leagues. He played a significant role in running the Maine Junior PGA Tournaments and was a highly rated baseball umpire in the community and state. His love for rating golf courses was well known.

Joseph's love for children and his family was evident in all he did. He was instrumental in getting lights installed on the football field in Jay, leaving a legacy of community involvement. He also enjoyed his moments with his brother Larry - teaching him to golf.

He is survived by his wife Rita Fournier, his four children, Bruce and husband Frank Horan, Donald and wife Sharon, David and wife Deborah and Doreen and husband John Pertel. Eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters Gilbert "Jill" and Anne.

He was predeceased by his first wife Aline Fournier - the mother of his children. Also many brothers and sisters.

People were lucky and "Tickled Pink" to have spent time with Joseph, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
