Joyce I. Bragg

Auburn - Joyce I. Bragg, 81, of Sabattus, Maine, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, with her loving family by her side. Joyce was born at home in Sabattus on April 1, 1936, the youngest of four children a daughter of the late Frank Ashton and Edith (Wight) Ashton. She attended school in Sabattus and graduated from Lewiston High School in the class of 1955. She worked at Bates Mill until she married her childhood sweetheart, Erlon R. Bragg on June 25, 1960 in Greene. They had two children and a foster son. She loved camping, traveling all over the east coast and going for rides to the ocean and mountains. She enjoyed knitting blankets for her children, nieces and nephews. She was most happy in her later years talking about being born and raised on the family farm on No Name Pond Road and expressing her love for all the animals.

Joyce is survived by her daughter: Roberta Mathieu and husband Robert of Sabattus, her son: Jeffrey W. Bragg of Sabattus, foster son: Michael Mann of Wales and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband: Erlon R. Bragg, brothers: Frank Ashton, Stanley Ashton, sister: Marion Williams, family dog: Ranger, cats: Regis and Alex, grand-dogs: Meeko and Emma.

Visitation will be Sunday at The Fortin Funeral Home in Lewiston from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at The Fortin Funeral Home in Lewiston. Committal services will be held in the Spring at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sabattus.
