Born on January 15, 1938, son of the late Selim and Helen (Malkoul) Negm. Kamal, known as ‘Kim,’ attended and graduated from High School in Alexandria, Egypt. He went on to graduate from Business School in Egypt, with a concentration in Finance.
Kim was married to Christel E. PinkPank, the love of his life. They shared decades together, raising their two children, whom he centered his world around. Kim’s greatest treasure was his family, and you would often find him camping at the lake in Oklahoma. He was very active in the Boy Scout Troop that his sons were members of and even found himself becoming the Treasurer, which allowed him to spend more time with his sons.
In 1974, Kim moved his family to Lewiston, where he managed the food, beverage and banquet facilities at the Ramada Inn. When ownership changed hands in 1980, Kim took a leap of faith and opened the Kamalot lounge in Lisbon, Maine. With his entrepreneurial skills and desire to build his business, Kim built the Harvest House Restaurant and Banquet facilities adjacent to the Kamalot. He would stay there as President until his retirement in 1998.
Kim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather first and foremost and anyone who knew him, knew that to be true. He will forever be remembered for his hearty laugh, business savvy attitude, and ability to talk to anyone regardless of background. He had a larger-than-life personality and a very mischievous sense of humor that will forever live on in our hearts.
Kim is survived by his wife, Christel Negm of Lewiston; one son Steven B. Negm and his wife, Kelly (Stevens) Negm of Lewiston; one granddaughter, Riley M. Negm and her life partner, Sydnie McClintock of Lewiston; his brother Magdi Negm, sister Yvette Gamester, her husband Richard; and several nieces and nephews.
Kim was predeceased by his parents, his brother Solomon Negm, his sister Paulette Ghali, as well as his son Richard M. Negm.
The Negm family wishes to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Janay and Beth of Beacon Hospice for their incredible kindness, as well as Mary, who never missed calling each week to do a check in.
In lieu of flowers, the Negm Family asks that you send a donation to Beacon Hospice 245 Center Street Suite 10A, Auburn, Maine 04210.
