For anybody who does not know me, I am Lisa Ouellette, Leose’s granddaughter. I want to say a few words in memory of my grandmother. I would like to start by saying that Lee is and will always be my hero. My grandmother has always been a kind, generous, and the most unselfish person who loved her family unconditionally. One of her greatest joys in life is family. It would mean so much to her when the family got together. No monetary gift could ever replace the happiness that her family gave to her. Most of Memere’s simple pleasures in life were small. Such as a baby-cone from the Dairy Joy, her favorite flavor was vanilla. She always smiled and said, “This was my mother favorite too.” She enjoyed ham pizza from Sam’s, but most of all, she enjoyed the company that came along with the treats. My earliest memories of Memere would be camping at Sebago Lake. Memere loved to fish. If you caught it, she would cook it. I remember sitting on 5-gallon buckets at night while we fished for hompout. I do remember someone pulling in an eel, which became the next days feast. My best memory with Memere is when she took my favorite cousin Ricky and I to Rangeley Lake camping in a cabin with Mon oncle. Again, if you caught it, she would cook it. I believe that we ate chubs one night for dinner. She also took us to the movies and we watched Black Beauty. To this day, Rick is my favorite cousin and I can thank Memere for that. I think Memere will be most remembered by her craftiness. She could and would make or fix anything. Memere made the most beautiful quilts. The quilt on my bed is made with old fabrics that bring back beautiful memories of the clothes that she made us throughout our childhood. My daughter Amber does not understand why we wore such weird fabrics. It’s good that styles change. Every night when I climb into bed, it is nice to know that I am always covered with her love. As I got older, I learned to appreciate and respect her more and more everyday. My daughter Amber and I would visit her weekly to curl her hair, sit, and chat. Memere loved telling us stories of the good old days when she grew up. She would talk about taking care of her dad when he was ill, stories of shoveling manure from the barn, keeping foods cold in the well, her first job, and when she got her first refrigerator after she got married. She was very proud of where she had been and who she had became. Amber said she is worth loving, I say she is certainly a gift. I feel so fortunate to have been in her life. Memere and I had a very special trusting bond. I am grateful that I had the gift of time with her. Everyday that passed, every Sunday that I sat with her was a treasure, a gift, a reward. There is just no simple way a saying, how much I valued and respected her. Memere you will forever be my hero; I love you so much! Memere also told us that not one day goes by, that she does not think about her husband, my pèpre. Now they can be together once again. Memere, I hope that you are standing tall next to him, holding his hand. I love you both so much. Please tell pèpre that I will always be his, “big baby.” Memere, I want to be like you when I grow up, a kind, generous, unselfish person who loves her family unconditionally. Memere, I will always love and look over your Bobby PS. I will keep your meet pie tradition going, thank you for teaching me well.

Memere taught me how to knit it took all day but I finally got it. I remember she gave me my own knitting needles and yarn. I remember always going over to her house on Halloween. She was a strong woman and I hope to live as long as she did. she swears its the fish.
