Monmouth, ME - It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Lorraine Gagne Labbe (95) on the morning of December 18, 2023 at home with her family in Monmouth. Lorraine was born April 1, 1928, in Berlin, New Hampshire. Her family moved to Auburn, Maine during her adolescent years where she graduated from Edward Little in 1946.
Lorraine was a social butterfly with a heart of gold. She enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends near and far. She made frequent calls and was always the first to send a heartfelt card. Being married to a 30-year Chief Petty Officer in the USN, she enjoyed traveling and living abroad during her husband’s Navy career. She found enjoyment sharing the stories of her adventures with her granddaughter, her husband and their two daughters, whom she thought the world of.
Lorraine had a Small Dog Grooming business out of her home in Auburn; she worked beside her daughter at Pooh’s Country Preschool & Friends for many years; she was a league bowler; she belonged to a women’s golf league; her hobbies included crafts of stenciling, sewing, knitting, and playing bridge. She throughly enjoyed entertaining, and traveling. Our hearts are sad without Lorraine beside us, but knowing that she lived a beautiful and fulfilled life brings soothing comfort.
Lorraine is pre-deceased by her spouse, Gerard (Ray) Labbe, father, Leopold Gagne, mother, Rose Blanche Gagne, brother, Edmond Gagne, brother-in-law, Bertrand Lambert, and granddaughter, Emmi Eaton. She leaves behind her sister, Sylvia Lambert of Phillips, her daughter and son in law, Gayle and Scott Richard of Litchfield, her granddaughter and husband, Tasha and Matt Cote of Monmouth, great granddaughters, Alyx and Sydney Cote, great grandsons, Cody Grimmel, Camden Grimmel, and Brenden Eaton. Her nephew and his wife, Shawn and Paula Lambert of Marlborough, Mass, her niece and her husband, Kim and Kevin O’Leary of South Paris, great nieces and great nephews. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude and love to a great friend, Tina Begin, for being by Lorraine’s side for many years.
A gravesite memorial service will be scheduled for later in the Spring.
