

LISBON - Madeline Theodora Mann, 93, a resident of Lisbon affectionately known as “Bub”, “Windy”, and “Mady” passed away at her home on Sunday, November 1st on All Saint’s Day. She was born October 25, 1916, in Waterville the only daughter of Frederick and Delvina (Boucher) Holland. She graduated from Waterville High School in 1934. She worked in the office at Sisters’ Hospital in Waterville for Sister Andrea MacVarish, who encouraged her to become a nurse. In 1942, she graduated from Sisters’ Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Sisters’ and Thayer Hospitals in Waterville. She later specialized in private duty nursing in the Lewiston area, and at the Central Maine General and St. Mary’s Hospitals in Lewiston. She married C. Howard Mann of Lisbon on February 26, 1949 at Sacred Heart Church in Waterville. She was a gifted pianist and often performed as an accompanist at Pine Tree Grange #3 in Lisbon and for special groups in the Lisbon schools. She was a loving, caring, and compassionate nurse and parent, who was proud of all her children, and her grandsons. She was a most devout Catholic and a member of Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Jean Calder and her husband, Lawrence, of Crownsville, MD, Laurie Ellen Jones and her husband, Bill, of Brunswick, GA; her sons, Gregory Howard Mann and his wife, Doreen, with whom she resided, of Lisbon, Charles Wesley Mann and his wife, Marjorie, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and William Joseph Mann of Portland; her grandsons, Steven, Dennis, and Michael Calder of Maryland, Johnathan Mann of Colorado, and Alexander Mann of Portland; her sister in law, Edna Holland of Katy, TX.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, C. Howard Mann on February 21, 1993, her brothers, Frederick Jr., John, and James Holland, and by her best friend for over 70 years, Madelyn Ladd on August 28, 2009. The family would like to thank Gregory and Doreen for being Madeline’s care givers for the past few years, Martha Lewis for her care and companionship to Madeline, Seniors Plus: Tender Touch of Minot, especially Kimberly and Beverly; Care and Comfort, especially Becky; and the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice especially Judy and Angela, for the wonderful care and support they gave to Madeline and her family. MANN died in Lisbon, November 1, 2009, Mrs. Madeline T. Mann age 93 years, a resident of Lisbon. A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Madeline's life will be celebrated THURSDAY 11:00AM at Holy Trinity Church, Lisbon. Private Burial will be held at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Waterville.
