

LEWISTON- Matthew J. Nicole, 60, of Lisbon died Monday, February 27, 2023, following a short illness with his loving family by his side. He was born in Hahn, Germany on March 15, 1962, the son of John (Nic) and MaryEllen (Ellie) Slowey Nicole. Matthew previously lived in Manchester, New Hampshire before becoming a member of this community in 1990.
He was a graduate of Memorial High School Class of 1980 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He then attended Hesser College graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Digital Electronics and went on to attend New Hampshire College graduating with high honors in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
Matthew was employed at Pitney Bowes as a Sales Director of the Northeast prior to retiring in 2019. During his 34 years at Pitney Bowes he achieved numerous awards for sales excellence, including the President’s award.
He was a member of Martindale Country Club where he enjoyed golfing with his friends. In college he received a soccer scholarship and participated on the all New England Team and later went on to coach youth soccer. He loved watching Notre Dame Football, traveling, landscaping, bowling and most of all loved spending time with his family and friends. Matthew’s strength, determination and kindness were an inspiration to all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Karen (Fillion) Nicole of Lisbon; his mother MaryEllen (Ellie) Nicole of Swanzey, New Hampshire; two sisters Renee Harlow and her husband Dave of Swanzey, New Hampshire and Kathleen Nicole of Hooksett, New Hampshire; one brother Mark Nicole and his wife Susan of Melbourne Beach, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his father John (Nic) Nicole.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 5-8 PM at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, Maine.
Funeral services honoring Matthew’s life will be celebrated on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
