

1920 – 2013
Lewiston – Maurice J. Dionne Sr., 93, a resident of East Ave. Lewiston, died Wednesday, May 8, at D’Youville Pavillion after a brief stay.
He was born Jan. 31, 1920, in St. Philippe de Neri, Province of Quebec, the son of Benjamin Dionne and Florence (Michaud) Dionne. He came to this country as a 3 year old and attended schools in Lewiston.
He was a member of the Greatest Generation having served in the US Army Air Corp with the 20th Air Force in the Marianna Islands during World War II.
He worked many years as a bus driver including the L & A Transit Company. He also completed numerous over the road charters and tours during his bus driving career. He then worked for the Maine Turnpike Authority until retirement.
He was an avid lover of things automotive and owned a variety of antique cars through the years attending numerous antique car meets around the region.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Bertha T. (Beaulieu) Dionne of Lewiston, 2 sons Maurice J. Dionne Jr. and wife Rita of Wales, and Richard B. Dionne and his wife Cathy of Greene; 4 grand children, Rebecca Hill and her husband Andrew of West Bath, ME, Elizabeth Dionne of Riverside, CA, Ashley Dionne, Greene, ME and Benjamin Dionne, Greene, ME. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. He was also the youngest of 13 children
Special thanks to Friends Alternative Care for making it possible for him to stay home as long as possible. In addition a special thank you to friend Joyce Moreau for assisting Mom and Dad with their needs of daily living.
Also, special thanks to Dr. Seth Gordon and to the staff 4 West at D’Youville Pavilion and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for making his final days as comforting as possible.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial honoring Maurice's life will be celebrated MONDAY 11:00AM at Holy Cross Church. Committal prayers to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
