Winston Salem, NC - Monique was born in Lewiston, Maine, the youngest of three sisters, to Raoul Levesque and Sadie Drouin Levesque. After a long cognitive decline, she passed into eternity to be with her beloved family and our Lord.
Monique was a 1949 graduate of Lewiston High School and later graduated from Gorham State Teacher’s College. She worked as a secretary for Maine Central Railroad as well as several years in Washington, DC. Upon her mother’s death in 1965, she returned to Lewiston to help care for her father and to attend college. Upon her graduation, she became a history teacher at Auburn Middle School, where she was employed until her retirement.
After her father’s death, she acquired a property on Peak’s Island, with her lifetime friend, Claire Filliettaz. Over time they become loyal “Islanders,” and Peak’s became their joy and refuge for many wonderful years. Monique and Claire even caught the Florida ‘bug’ and spent many winters with family and friends in Ft Myers, FL. Monique belonged to St Peter and Paul’s Parish in Lewiston and St Christopher’s Parish on Peak’s Island, where she was a eucharistic minister.
In 2011, she moved to Winston-Salem NC to reside with her sister, Denise Sprinkle and family.
Monique enjoyed travel and especially liked the hospitable climates and the loving family/friend networks in FL and NC. She was an ardent Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruin’s fan.
A wonderful sister and beloved aunt - she was totally devoted to her family and friends. Monique was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Lucille Crowley and Denise Sprinkle.
Survivors include two nieces: Karen Sprinkle and Susan Crowley; and six nephews: Dr Robert Sprinkle, Dr Ralph Sprinkle, Richard Sprinkle, Dr. Roy Sprinkle, Randall Sprinkle and Drouin Sprinkle. She is also survived by multiple grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at St Peter and Paul’s Basilica, in Lewiiston on 29 Sept, at 11:00, followed by a graveside committal service at St Peter’s Cemetery.
