

AUBURN: Normand McLaughlin, 73, of Lewiston peacefully passed away on Wednesday January 18, 2017 at the Hospice House in Auburn following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Norm was born in Brunswick on October 7, 1943 a son of the late William and Cecile (Lapierre) McLaughlin. Growing up in Brunswick, he attended local schools and graduated from Brunswick High School.
In 1962, Norm proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam conflict. While stationed in Canada, he met and married Mary “Millie” McCarthy, at Stephenville Crossing in Newfoundland on December 13, 1965.
After leaving the military, Norm and Millie settled in Lewiston where they raised their family together. During that time he worked as a retail manager for several companies and worked at BIW for many years as well. Norm was an avid golfer and bowler, even working for a time at Sparetime Recreation and Holiday Lanes. Norm also enjoyed playing chess, watching comedies and westerns, plus spending quality time with his many dogs throughout the years.
Norm is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Millie McLaughlin of Lewiston, his three children; Ken McLaughlin and his partner Marge of Cambridge, MA, Dave McLaughlin and his wife Tammy of Naples, and Bob McLaughlin and his wife Shannon of West Gardiner. He also leaves behind a sister, Jeanne Grimes of CT, a brother, Donald McLaughlin of Gardiner, three grandchildren; Brittany, Bailey, and Brooke McLaughlin and a great-granddaughter, Amiyah Espinoza. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Richard McLaughlin.
The McLaughlin family extends heartfelt thanks to the Androscoggin Hospice House for their compassion and care given to Normand in his final days.

MCLAUGHLIN---Normand, 73, of Lewiston died Wednesday January 18, 2017. A private memorial service celebrating Normand’s life will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park at a later date. Those wishing, in lieu of flowers, may make a charitable contribution in Normand’s memory to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice 15 Strawberry Ave. Lewiston, ME 04240.
