

AUBURN- Patricia A. Charest, age 80 of Lewiston, died peacefully early Tuesday morning, October 28, 2008, surrounded by her family at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.She was born on March 14, 1928 in Bangor, Maine; the daughter of Irene and George T. McCarthy. Patricia attended Lewiston Schools and remained a lifelong resident of the community. On July 18, 1953 she married the love of her life Roger Charest, who predeceased her August 12, 2008. Patricia's first passion in life was her family and her grandchildren. She loved to garden and dance yet her favorite sport and accomplishment was bowling. Patricia and her husband Roger both met several of their lifelong friends through this sport. Throughout the years she was a member of several women and mixed couples leagues and won many awards. She also had the honor of serving on the Twin City Bowling Association as Secretary for over 25 plus years and in 1983 was inducted into the Twin City Bowling Hall of Fame. Even recently she was still being called upon for advice on the rules and regulations of the game. Patricia had a 50-year career making shoes and was always striving to improve efficiencies and streamline processes. She took great pride in her work and did her best to keep jobs in America by working smarter than the low wage foreign competition; passing on these traits and principles to her children and their families. She leaves two daughters, Sandra Charest-Davall and husband Gregory, and Tammy Klemanski and husband Michael; grandchildren Darcie, Desirae, Joey, Alex, Melissa, Zachary, and Bailey; brothers George McCarthy and wife Lorraine, Edward McCarthy and sisters Dorothy Lussier, Irene Chipman, Mary Cavers, Lorraine Ouellette and husband Robert and Gloria May; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Patricia's life will be celebrated Monday November 3, 2008 at 11AM at St. Patrick's Church. Entombment to follow in the Chapel of the Rosary at St. Peter's Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations in Patricia's memory may be made to Androscoggin Hospice House 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, Maine 04210.
