

AUBURN- Richard A. Charest, 74, of Lewiston died on Sunday April 6, 2014 in Auburn following a long illness. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on June 25, 1939 the son of the late Adrian and Evelyn (Jalbert) Charest and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was educated in Lewiston schools. He was employed for Bellemoc Shoe for many years, then became self-employed doing home improvements and then worked for the Auburn School Department until his retirement. He was a member of the Montagnard Club where he played the trumpet in the marching band. Richard enjoyed playing pool, watching boxing and cowboy movies, socializing with old friends at local restaurants and diners. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife Lorraine of fifty-four years and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife the former Lorraine Veilleux whom he married on July 4, 1959 of Lewiston; one son Donald Charest of Lewiston; three daughters Susan Webster of Rochester, N.H., Denise Ouellette and her husband Dennis of Topsham and Sandra Reynolds and her husband Arthur of Oxford; two sisters Rachel Cote of Auburn and Jeannette Mieres of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
