

Auburn - Richard Earl Harriman passed away June 21st of natural causes at Clover Manor in Auburn, Maine. Richard “Harry” Harriman was born April 16th, 1929 in Camden, Maine, graduated from Lewiston High School in 1947 and served in the US Navy. Upon discharge he made use of the GI bill and went to work at Commerce Die Company in Auburn. He married his high school sweetheart Mildred “Millie” Keene December 9, 1950 and they settled in Lewiston. He worked for Commerce Die company for almost 30 years until it was purchased by the Auburn Die Company. He then went to work for Auburn Die Company retiring in 1995. For 50 years he and his wife Millie spent most of every summer in Small Point, Maine, first at Hermit Island Campground and later at Head Beach Campground, where they met and enjoyed many friends from all around the state and New England. In the past few years he and Millie have resided at Montello Heights in Lewiston and most recently at Clover Manor in Auburn. Dad will be remembered for being able to craft almost anything he put his mind to. He was very well informed and never shy with sharing his opinions. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family camping in Small Point, Maine Harry is survived by his wife Millie, his brother David of Durham, NC., his sister Shirley Herrick of Auburn, Maine, his two children Gary Harriman of New Gloucester, Maine and Wendy Dostie of Winthrop, Maine, 5 grandchildren, Josephine Harriman, Jerromey George, Jesse George, Spencer Harriman and Aja Dostie, and 2 great grandchildren, Aurora and Zander. He was predeceased by his parents Jesse and Mabel Harriman and his brother Gerald Harriman. In accordance with his wishes there will be a small private memorial service for family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staffs at both Montello Manor and Clover Manor for their time and patience when caring for Richard. He wasn’t always the most co operative patient but they always treated him with kindness and respect.
