

PARIS- Robert C. Carleton, 78, older son of Marjorie Libby Carleton and Willard C. Carleton passed away at Maines Veterans Home in SO. Paris on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 He was born and raised in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1964. He graduated from Auburn Maine School of Commerce in 1966 amd spent time in the United States Air Force in New Jersey, Alaska and Thailand. After his military service, he was employed By Sampson Super Markets (now Hannaford) in Auburn and Bath as Assistant Manager. He also worked for New England Telephone including a time at the COMSAT station in Andover and lastly as installer/repairman out of Brunswick for a total of thirty seven years. After retiring, he worked for Mike Blais at Blais Flower Shop for fifteen years. In 1978 he married Brenda Jackson Edwards who lived less than two miles from his home in Barkerville in their preschool years. He enjoyed car shows and cruise nights where he displayed his 1977 Ford pickup and 1954 International telephone truck, which seemed to spend more time on a flatbed than on the road.
He enjoyed driving and drove to Key West, Florida and all over Alaska. He and his wife spent most weekends on the road going to local ocean points. He enjoyed coffee with his retiree friends in Topsham and Bath each week. He was a member of several Masonic Lodges and Kora Shrine where he was once active in the band. He was an avid reader and never failed to miss NCIS including all the reruns.
He is survived by his wife Brenda. daughter Julie Edwards Greenwood and husband Lt Col (USAF retired) Davis Greenwood, brother RIchard L. Carleton and wife Mary of Monmouth, granddaughter Lydia Maine Greenwood of Philadelphia, PA. and his nephew Andrew R. Carleton and wife Candy of Old Fort, TN. and his sister-in-law Mildred Jackson Bannan of Presque Isle, ME..
A Celebration of Life Service honoring Robert's life will be celebrated on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 5:00 PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group in Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Poor Little Stray Things at Lewiston Veterinary Hospital, 75 Stetson Rd., Lewiston, ME 04240 or Maine Veterans Homes Activity Fund, 477 High St., So. Paris, ME 04281. An informal Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 3- 5 PM prior to the Celebration of Life at The Fortin & Pinette Group 305 Alfred A.
