It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roger A. Verreault, of Turner, Maine. Roger, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 88 years old.
Born on December 11, 1936, to Joseph and Yvonne Verreault of Lewiston, Maine, Roger was one of twelve siblings—eight brothers and three sisters—whom he adored and shared countless treasured memories with. He was a devoted father to four children, a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, and a great-grandfather to one great-grandchild. Roger's wisdom, humor, and unwavering support profoundly touched the lives of his family, who were his greatest joy. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Roger served his country with honor as a proud member of the U.S. Army in the 1950s, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant and dedicating several years of his life to service in Korea. Following his military service, he spent over 30 years as President of Diamond Machine Company in Lewiston, Maine, alongside his brothers Robert, Richard, and Paul, who have all predeceased him. Later, Roger established his own business, which he operated until a few years ago.
Known for his kindness, Roger had a special fondness for "The Verreault Hideaway" family camp in Holeb, Maine, a love for golf at Martindale Country Club, and a passion for traveling the world. His ability to bring a smile to anyone's face was legendary. Whether gathered around the family or camp table, sharing stories, or offering a helping hand to those in need, Roger's presence will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Roger is survived by his devoted wife Sylvia of Turner, Maine; his children Tim and his wife Sharon of Portland, Ron and his wife Gayle of Severna Park, Maryland, Scott of Corinna, and Laurie of Turner; his grandchildren Alycia and husband Andy, Sierra and husband Isaac, Christian, Caitlyn and husband Kalib, Matthew, Connor, Noah, Hunter, Hanna, his great-grandchild Avery, and countless nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by his kindness and spirit.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the care team at Andwell Hospice for their compassion and skilled care during Roger's brief stay.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at East Auburn Baptist Church (560 Park Ave, Auburn) on April 19th. Visiting hour at 10 a.m. followed by celebration of life at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Andwell Hospice in Auburn or to the East Auburn Baptist Church in memory of Roger.
