

Auburn, Maine - Sylvia Eda (Peterson) Everett, beloved wife of Eugene Earle Everett, died March 13, 2026, at the Hospice House following a brief illness. Sylvia was born November 18, 1927, in Caribou, Maine, to Vivian (Johnson) Peterson and Oscar Peterson.
She graduated from Caribou High School in 1944 and attended the University of Maine for two years.
She married Eugene Everett in 1947 and they resided in Presque Isle. Sylvia worked briefly in her father's wholesale grocery business before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was an member of many organizations, including the United Church of Christ, the Republican Party, and the American Association of University Women. She pursued a life-long interest in genealogy. When her husband retired in 1984, they moved to Florida, North Carolina, and then to Maryland. Upon Gene's death in 2015, Sylvia returned to Maine to live at Schooner Estates in Auburn. They had been married for sixty-eight years.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Michael Everett, and wife Paula, and Paula's daughter Katherine Hiss, her daughter, Dr. Beverly Everett, and husband John Kocak, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Eloise Stoffan, and her step-grandson, Andrew Hiss.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Michael's Episcopal Church in Auburn, Friday, March 27, at two-thirty in the afternoon.
