

LEWISTON- Therese L. Jean, 88, formerly of 89 Shawmut Street, Lewiston died Friday evening September 7, 2007 following a period of declining health.She was born in Lewiston on July 4, 1919 the daughter of Adelard and Alice (Bergeron) Landry and had been a resident of this community all of her life. She attended local schools and graduated from Cours Superieur. She then became employed at Central Distributors where she met her husband Fernand. They were married on July 4, 1940 and he died on March 27, 1985. After raising her family, she was a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Jean's Waterproofing, and later employed at Liberty Mutual as a policy grader until her retirement in 1981. She was a parishioner of the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul and a member of the Society and Ladies of St. Ann of Holy Family. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Family Church. Therese will be remembered for her love of children and her passion for cooking. She is survived by two sons Laurier Jean and his wife Anita of Harpswell and Gilbert Jean of St. George, Utah; two daughters Diane Morin and her husband Emilien of Auburn and Jacqueline Violette and her husband John of Lewiston; five sisters Fernande Hamann and her husband Louis Philip of Lewiston, Juliette Bannister of Auburn, Jeanne Lessard and her husband Fernand of Lewiston, Germaine Marquis of Auburn and Pauline Cashman and her husband John of York, Maine; four sisters-in-law Irene Marier of Westbrook, Denise Landry of St. Hyacinthe, P.Q., Marguerite Landry of Lewiston and Arline Landry of Lewiston; one brother-in-law Richard Robert of Lewiston; one daughter-in-law Jill Jean of Robinston, Maine; nine grandchildren Celeste Chapman, Andre Morin, John Morin, Eric Jean, Nicole Jean, Jennifer Pray, Mark Morin, Erika Violette and Luke Jean; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by eight brothers; two sisters and one grandson Evan Jean. NOTICE Jean- Died in Lewiston Friday September 7, 2007. Mrs. Therese L. age 88 a resident of Lewiston. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday 11AM at the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul. Entombment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery Mausoleum.
