Barbara was a retired Air Force Nurse and took care of babies affected by World War II. She was a member of Broadacres Baptist Church and attended Sunday school. Vivian Inabinet was her Sunday school teacher. Barbara took care of Elvis Presley’s mother, aunt and uncle. The story is that Elvis was thankful to her and wanted to pay her, but Barbara said “no, that’s my job” so he built a wing on the hospital in her name.

She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Wanda Harvath and a half-brother who lived in Spain.
