

Mrs. Hendrix graduated from Columbia High School. She was an administrative assistant for the Air Force before beginning her career for the South Carolina Employment Security Commission in Columbia where she would eventually spearhead the opening of the Lexington branch. Mrs. Hendrix also supported her husband in the US Navy during his various stations around the US. Once settled in Lexington, SC Mrs. Hendrix enjoyed raising her three children and her past times playing bridge and golf. Mrs. Hendrix started the first Garden Club of Lexington and was a six-time ladies’ golf champion at Lexington Country Club. She was also known for her cooking and feeding her family and friends, even co-authoring a cookbook while president of the St John’s Women of the ELCA. Mrs. Hendrix was also active in other civic duties including the Lexington Women’s Club as well as a youth advisor for St John’s Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Hendrix is survived by her children, Kim Hendrix, Gil Hendrix (Debra), Hal Hendrix (Diane); grandchildren who knew her as ‘Maga’, Kasey Myers Neely (Will), Amanda Brannon (Matthew), Kendall Myers (Stephanie), Jack Hendrix (Andrea), Jake Hendrix (Melissa); many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Hendrix and Welthy Senn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jack Gilmore Hendrix, nine siblings, and one grandson, Michael Hendrix.
A celebration of life will be held at the Lexington Caughman-Harman Funeral Home on Saturday, October 26 with a chapel service at 11:00 followed by a visitation at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society or The Alzheimer’s Association.
The family would like to thank the administration and staff at Laurel Crest Retirement Community for their love and care of Mrs. Hendrix during her time there.
