Throughout his entire life, Bruce had a love for the outdoors. As a young boy he enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his father. He continued to enjoy these activities with his own children and grandchildren. A graduate of Western Michigan University, Bruce went on to a distinguished 44-year career in the insurance industry as a claims mediation specialist.
He had an enthusiasm for sports which included playing, refereeing, and coaching hockey. He was a part of the wrestling team in high school. He also coached his children in hockey, soccer, and softball. Bruce would never turn down an opportunity to watch a Michigan State University football game, a Detroit Tigers baseball game, or a Detroit Red Wings hockey match. Like his mom, Bruce was an excellent cook. He loved creating wonderful meals for everyone to enjoy. Thanksgiving was always a delight as Bruce and his daughter would work together to prepare a fabulous feast.
Bruce was passionate about his hobbies. His love of fishing was beyond compare. He was happiest when floating on the water in his kayak, casting his lines and looking for his next big catch. He taught himself to play the guitar. He enjoyed photography, playing chess, and reading American history literature. His most recent passion was joining the archery league at Jeffrey’s Archery where he also worked part-time.
But his greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren: Savanah, Westley, Eva, and Liam.
Bruce’s big smile, hearty laugh and never-ending passion for life will be treasured and remembered by all. The many memories he created will be cherished by everyone who knew and loved him.
There will be a private family gathering to celebrate his life at a later date.
