A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Midlands Christian Church, 1312 West Main St., Lexington, SC 29072.
Mr. Hoover was born on July 24, 1946 to Fletcher and Nettie Mae Hoover of West Columbia, SC.
He was a loving and caring father to his children and grandchildren. He once said his greatest joy in life was being a dad to his children and grandchildren.
He was a dear friend and a devoted husband. He was a man full of life and laughter with a great sense of humor with a personality that always seemed to entertain family and friends.
Carl loved to go on an adventure; his favorites were deep-sea fishing with his sons and grandson, Devin and he enjoyed spending time traveling to the beach and to the mountains. He spent time on cruises and going to Las Vegas with his wife. He enjoyed flea market finds and antiques. When he was younger, he was a huge Elvis Presley fan; he grew the sideburns and even sung the music. He loved his canine companions over the years and always helped and cared for even a few strays that he brought into his home and nurtured them back to life.
He is survived by his two sons, Carl Hoover, Jr. (Angela Alley) of Swansea, SC, David Hoover of West Columbia, SC and two daughters, Melodie Turner of West Columbia, SC and Susan Contreras of Topeka, Kansas. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Lauren Turner of Jefferson, GA; grandsons, Gabriel Hoover and Avery Hoover of Swansea, SC and grandson, United States Air Force Airman Caleb Hoover of Eglin AFB, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Devin Hoover of West Columbia, SC and his wife, Louise Hoover of West Columbia, SC.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to The Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037.
