

LEXINGTON- Carolyn Shealy Roberts, wife of John Clay Roberts, died on December 24, 2011. She was born in Lexington County on December 21, 1929. Her family wishes to thank the staff of Carroll Campbell Place for their care and compassion during this last year as she struggled with Alzheimer's disease.
In addition to her loving husband, Clay, Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Roberts Shealy and her husband, Richard of Lexington, and Debra Roberts Park and her husband, David, of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Emily Park Libke and her husband Greg, of Fort Mill, SC, and Clay Park of Charlotte NC; along with two great granddaughters, Abbie and Ella Libke. Her first grandchild, Sidney Riggs IV, disappeared in March of 2000.
She was predeceased by her parents, Maxie E. Shealy and Corrie Younginer Shealy; sister, Modell Rush Corley; and brothers, Greer A. Shealy, Norman L. Shealy, and Hugh E. (Bill) Shealy.
Carolyn worked as a legal secretary for the Lexington County Family Court and later for the South Carolina Attorney General. She was an active member of Providence Lutheran Church and participated in various civic activities. She and Clay enjoyed their retirement years living on Lake Murray and traveling around the United States in their motor home.
Funeral service and burial will be held at Providence Lutheran Church on Monday, December 26, 2011, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Providence Lutheran Church, 840 Old Chapin Rd., Lexington, SC 29072 or to the SC Alzheimer's Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169.
