Mrs. Smith retired from the SC Aeronautics Commission. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and was a volunteer, serving in many positions there and at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and Our Saviour Lutheran Church, where she was a charter member. She was a dedicated volunteer for several years with Lutheran Hospice where she used her beautiful voice, singing praises to God to comfort and bring joy to patients.
Mrs. Smith lived most of her life in the West Columbia/Lexington areas. She enjoyed travel and for several years, she and her husband, Jim, traveled in an RV throughout the US and Canadian Provinces.
Surviving are her daughters, Cindy DiSarro of Prosperity and Patti (Jimmy) Addison of Columbia; stepdaughter, Ann (Richard) White; two grandchildren, Cassey (Kris) Gawith and Eric Heineman; other step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other beloved family and friends.
Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husbands, Wilford "Pee Wee" Player and James (Jim) A. Smith, her son, Alan Hunter and other dear members of her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Heritage at Lowman, Lexington Medical Center, and MSA Hospice for their care and compassion.

A graveside service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd, Lexington, SC 29072. Officiating will be the Rev. Rus Stilwell. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family.
