Catherine Windham Wilkes

Prosperity-- A celebration of life for Catherine Windham Wilkes, 82, of Prosperity, formerly of West Columbia, will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, December 26, 2015, conducted by Rev. Bill Ebener, in the Chapel of Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington. The family will receive friends following the service. The family will have a private burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Lamar at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Tri-County, 13795 C. R. Koon Hwy., Newberry, SC 29108. Mrs. Wilkes, widow of Keith Braylon Wilkes, died December 21, 2015. Born in Society Hill, she was a daughter of the late Willie Reed and Lucille Sutton Windham. Mrs. Wilkes retired from Southern Bell with 30 years of service and was very proud of being chosen as Miss Bell Tell in 1959. She was a former volunteer with Palmetto Health Hospice and she was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son, Wayne K. (Crystal) Wilkes of West Columbia; daughter and caretaker, Cheryl A. Wilkes of the home; grandchildren, Wayne K. (Keith) (Kristen) Wilkes, Jr., Paul B. (Shayla) Wilkes, Kathleen R. Wilkes, Kollin A. (Kirsten) Wilkes, Jennifer E. Candler, Tara B.(Charles ) Black; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Kayla, Kolten, Braylon, Vivian, Kayleen, Kaleb, Christopher, Ramzey, Kade; sister, Helen Windham Jordan; brother-in-law, Malcom M. (Joyce) Medlin. She was predeceased by siblings John Windham, Doris W. Wilkes, Darryl Windham, Keith Windham, and Billie Coates.

The family would to thank the Staff of Hospice Care of Tri-County for the wonderful care and compassion shown to their mother.
