Charlie H. Tolen

Charlie H. Tolen was born august 18, 1933. He departed this earthly place in Columbia, SC on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, to be with the Lord. Charlie received his education in Batesburg-Leesville county school system. Upon graduation, Charlie served in the United States Armed Forces in the branch of the United States Army. He met his loving wife, Fannie Tolen, whom he loved for72 years of marriage and raised 9 children while later working as a mechanic for many years until retiring. Charlie also served as a mason for many years in Batesburg-Leesville County at the Twin City Lodge #316. Charlie was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church before coming to Concord Fellowship Baptist Church in Columbia, SC where he made his permanent church home. He loved his church family in Christ. Charlie was a devoted husband and father.

He leaves to cherish his memory, 4 daughters; Shirley Vasquez of Columbia, SC, Mary Tolen of Columbia, SC, Annette Tolen of Columbia, SC, Delores (Eric) Morrison of Gaston, SC; 2 sons, David Tolen and Anthony Tolen both of Columbia, SC. A host of 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his wife, Fannie Tolen, 3children, son, Charlie Tolen Jr., daughters, Judy Tolen and Sue Tolen-Robinson, his mother and father, Annie and Jessie Tolen, sisters, Lizzie Collins and Mary Bell Cunningham, brothers, Jessie Tolen Jr. and Robert Tolen.

A visitation for Charlie will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Concord Fellowship Baptist Church, 7831 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, South Carolina 29203 with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. A burial following the service will occur at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170. Repass will be held at Concord Fellowship Baptist immediately following the burial.
