Deborah (“Debbie”) Peacock Alexander of Lexington, South Carolina passed away peacefully in the presence of her loved ones on Saturday, August 10, 2024. She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on July 29, 1948. Mrs. Alexander was the daughter of Walter and Lois Peacock.
Debbie was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, mother, Grammy, and most importantly, a friend to every person she met. Her favorite title was given to her by her grandchildren, and she truly was the best Grammy. She loved her family fiercely. Her children and grandchildren can attest to her steadfast dedication to those she loved. She spread joy and fun everywhere she went.
Debbie was also an avid volunteer. She was involved with her children’s and grandchildren’s schools, Champions Society, Richland Memorial Children’s Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Relay For Life, Lexington County Library, Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church, Girl Scouts, and Palmetto Place. She was a long-time active member of the Lexington Junior Women’s Club and the Lexington Women’s Club where she served as club president for many years. She received the prestigious “Woman of Distinction Award” for Lexington Women’s Club in 2020. She was generous with her time and talents in serving the community she loved.
She was passionate about her tennis game, playing board games, and enjoying a book on the beach. She had a competitive spirit, and it came out on the tennis court or over a game of Rummikub! She could outlast anyone in the sun on the beach if she had a good book. She was a gifted hostess and knew how to make everyone feel welcome. Most Alexander family gatherings included more friends than family because Debbie was the hostess with the mostest. Her door was always open and she included everyone.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jack Alexander; her children, Alex Alexander, Maggie Gray (Harrison), and Anne Spencer Muncy (James); her grandchildren, Ellie Alexander (Christian Fortner), Maddie Gray, and Bragan Gray; and her sister, Sarah Peacock (Donald Mills).
She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Lois Peacock.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home- Lexington Chapel.
