

WEST COLUMBIA - Devin LeRobert McMahan of West Columbia, South Carolina passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 22, 2015 after a long battle with illnesses. He was 43 years old. Devin grew up in Lexington, South Carolina. He graduated from Lexington High School and attended University of South Carolina Aiken. Devin was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger years. He later developed a deep love for history and antiques. He pursued his interests with a career as an antique mall manager. He also loved research and became the preeminent authority on Edgefield and Columbia pottery. His advice was sought from researchers throughout the United States.All who knew Devin appreciated his clever sense of humor. He was a die-hard Gamecock fan and spoke of disowning his mother when she revealed she was a Clemson fan.
Devin is survived by his mother and caregiver, Laura McMahan, his father, Richard McMahan and step-mother, Gloria McMahan, daughter, Clara Jane McMahan, sister, Deirdre Tanner, brother-in-law, Michael Tanner, niece, Clark Tanner, and step-brother, Robert Raines. Devin will always be remembered for his kind, loving spirit and for his strength in the face of overwhelming adversity. We know he is now at rest and without pain. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, September 29, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelion, South Carolina on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Pelion, South Carolina. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Devin’s name to the Lexington County Museum, Post Office Box 637, Lexington, South Carolina 29071.
