Donald G. Conrad

COLUMBIA - Donald G. Conrad, 81, passed away peacefully at a facility of Lutheran Homes of South Carolina on August 1, 2015. Mr. Conrad was born in Mt. Pleasant, NY, son of the late Charlotte Foe’ll and William Conrad. After graduating from the State University of New York Maritime College in 1956, Donald went to work at the Quincy Ship Yard as a Nuclear Engineer and raised a family in Weymouth, MA. In the seventies he moved to Houston, Texas to work on a nuclear power facility there, finishing out his career with South Carolina Electric and Gas.

Donald was a deeply religious man, an avid target shooter and enjoyed being under the hood of his car as much as being behind the wheel of it. He will be missed by his family, his two-beloved Shih Tzus, Casey and Zeppo and by his neighbors in Columbia, SC.

Donald is survived by his three sons, Donald Conrad and his wife Mary, Douglas Conrad and Jonathan Conrad. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Heidi, Ashley and Brianna Conrad and by several nieces and nephews including Trisha C. Haight and her husband Carl and Laura Thackston Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his brother, William T. Conrad and his sister, Irene C. Hite.

Services will be held at a later date. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home is in charge.
