Born in 1932 to parents, Otis and Maude, he was raised with his five siblings: Sarah, James, Carl, Junior and Hazel. He joined the Army and proudly served during the Korean War. He later started a successful clearing and grading business called Cooper’s Landscaping. He was honest and hardworking. Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes. He also loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He was devoted to his Christian faith and his church family.
Doug was a strong, loving and supportive husband and father. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family.
Doug leaves behind his loving wife, Martha, of 62 years; son, Danny (Carol) and daughter, Linda; son, Joey (Kim) and daughter, Brenda; grandchildren, Daniel, T.J., Mitchell (Katie), Matthew and Josh and great grandchildren, Riggs and Annabelle.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church, 501 Church St., West Columbia, SC 29172. Visitation is at 10:00 am. A private burial will be held in the church cemetery.
