Douglas was a graduate of Marion High School. He attended and played baseball at Baptist College of Charleston and Francis Marion College in Florence, SC. He was an independent licensed agent of Primerica Financial Services for over 40 years and prior to that was a Manager at Uniway of Jacksonvile, Columbia, Florence and Memphis. He was an avid Gamecock fan, enjoyed golfing and spending time with his Grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Bowers Stumbo; children, Madalyn Stumbo and Ryan Stumbo; three grandchildren, Noah Smith, Adley Smith and Mawuli Gabah; a brother, Clifford W. Stumbo (Deborah) of Greenwood; a sister, Laura S. Matthews of Denison, IA; sister and brother-in-law, Richard and Elaine Starks, Lou and Kay Miller; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Paul Matthews of Iowa.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at Caughman Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel 503 N. Lake Dr. Lexington, SC 29072. A visitation will follow the service.
