Earl Holleman Macaulay Jr.

Earl was born September 3rd,1984 in West Columbia, SC. He was the son of Earl Holleman Macaulay Sr. and Jaclyn Jarrett Macaulay. He leaves behind his brother Jackson O’neil Macaulay of Columbus, OH, and his sister Laura Macaulay Carlson (David) of Durham, NC. Earl had a niece Fiona and a nephew Milo Carlson also of Durham, NC.

Earl graduated with honors from Brookland Cayce High School in 2002 where he was a spirited bearcat, member of the golf team, and participated in theater productions. He attended College of Charleston, and later graduated from Midlands Technical College with an Associates Paralegal degree in 2017. Earl spent many years working at local mainstay restaurants in Charleston, SC until moving back to Columbia, SC in 2015 to be closer to family. More recently, Earl was working as a sales manager at Jarrett’s Jungle, the family’s West Columbia-based tropical plant and florist business. Earl will be sorely missed by his friends and whole family.

Earl will be remembered for his sharp intellect, sense of humor, love of music and film, and for being a loving, caring son and brother. Earl was a gifted guitarist, a cat lover, science fiction aficionado, and excellent at trivia. He never met a stranger and was quick to make friends in new circumstances.

Earl’s funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023 at 11:00am at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church in West Columbia (1000 B Avenue West Columbia, SC 29169). After the service, friends and family are invited for lunch and a visitation in the assembly room. Earl will be laid to rest in Lexington Memorial Cemetery, 1756 West Main St Lexington, SC 29072.
