Ernest Edward Jennings

He attended Rock Hill High School and joined the US Navy, where he served four years. While serving, he married Sara Covington, the love of his life on December 14, 1962. They lived in Elizabeth City, NC, where he finished his Navy service. He and Sara settled in Columbia, SC where he attended Capital Barber College. He retired from barbering after many years of service to his loyal clients. He went to many homebound needing haircuts. He and Sara started a family while in Columbia. They welcomed their daughter, Lisa and son, Stan. They eventually settled in Lexington, SC, where they welcomed their granddaughter, Haven, the light of his life.

Eddie was devoted to Mt. Horeb Church. He was active in his church for many years where he loved being in the choir. He was also an usher, helped out with the men’s prayer breakfast, and assisted with the growth of the church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sara; daughter, Lisa Ann Griffis of Lexington; son, Stanley Edward Jennings of Lexington; granddaughter, Haven Shea Jennings of Columbia; brother, Bill Jennings of Catawba, SC; sisters, Nancy Williams of York, SC, Linda Leopard of Rock Hill, SC, and the late Jane Vess of Charlotte, NC; and his many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Mt. Horeb Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC 29072, with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place after the service in the church cemetery.
