Fred served in the South Carolina National Guard. After graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1969, Fred pursued a career in banking before opening a children’s shoe store. He enjoyed boating, riding his Harley/Indian motorcycles, watching his beloved Gamecocks, and spending time at Folly Beach. Fred was a member of St Stephens Lutheran Church.
Fred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cynthia Roberts Douglas (Cindy); daughter, Ashley Douglas-Ruiz (Rony); son, Jason Douglas (Alina); grandchildren, Anna Ruiz, Ian Ruiz, Evan Douglas; brother, Morris Douglas (Doris); along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Barbara Murphy Wilson.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Lexington, SC, preceded by visitation at 12:30 pm.
