

COLUMBIA – Funeral services for Geraldine Weed Stockton, 89, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Salem United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home Dutch Fork Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, PO Box 237, Ballentine, SC 29002. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Stockton was born in Irmo, SC on February 16, 1927 and passed away Monday, August 1, 2016. She was the daughter of the late, Dayus and Jessie Harmon Weed. Geraldine was the wife of the late, John Lewis Stockton. Besides her life’s work as a loving mother to her children and many generations of her extended family, Geraldine’s passions and hobbies were working in her flower garden, painting ceramics as Christmas gifts for the family and quilting- as she always had a quilt frame hanging to spend time connecting her family and friends creating beautiful designs. She had a long career as a Doffer with Allied Chemical and made many lifelong friends. After retirement she loved to travel the country with her husband visiting family. She will be missed and remembered for living her life for her family, always putting everyone before herself.
She is survived by her children, Patsy Stockton Webb (Ray), Johnny Wayne Stockton (Laura), Wanda Stockton McCaa, Tommy Stockton (Anita), Jack Blythe (Donna) and Bruce Goodwin (Marilyn); brother, Eugene Weed; sisters, Inez Weed Hyatt, Barbara Weed Martindale and daughter-in-law Cindy Stockton. Geraldine was a loving grandmother to her eighteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, son, Edgar Eugene Stockton; siblings, Reuben, Marion, Mitchell, Johnny Weed and Agnes Weed Kimball; son-in-law Billy McCaa. The family would like to thank, Rachel, Eva and Erin with Palmetto Health Newberry Hospice for their loving care.
