Ila Dawn Harrison Trout, 94, of West Columbia went to sleep in Jesus at her home on December 28, 2022 with her daughter by her side. She was born in Columbia, SC on November 4, 1928. Mrs. Trout was the daughter of W. P. Harrison and Grace Richie Harrison of West Columbia.
She was a homemaker and worked occasionally at Harrison’s Nursery. She was a member of Columbia First Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her passion was gardening and enjoying time spent in her yard. She also loved the beach and spent many happy summers at her beach house in Garden City.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Donna Trout Duck; one grandson, Jay Branham; a great grandson, Dillon Branham (Katie) and great great grandchildren, Elena and Parker Branham.
She was predeceased by her mother, Grace Richie Harrison; father, W. P. Harrison; brothers, Bill Harrison, Bob Harrison, Dick Harrison and a sister, Gloria Faria.
Her husband of 69 years and love of her life, James Eugene Trout, also predeceased her.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Della Tenny and Wilma Beck for their care and devotion to her. They were blessings from God and she loved them dearly.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WBAJ radio station or Columbia First Seventh Day Adventist Church.
