
He graduated from Fort Mill High School where he was captain of his football team and played in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. He served in the South Carolina National Guard, and then served in the US Navy aboard the heavy cruiser U.S.S. Rochester during the Korean War. He earned a National Defense Service Medal and a Korean Service Medal with two campaign stars. He attended the University of South Carolina where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He retired from his career as a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Sue Ramsey; son, Steven Brown; daughter, Jean Carrano and grandchildren, Gabriel and Alessandra Carrano.
He is predeceased by his wife, Lenore E. Brown; brothers, James AB Brown, Eugene Brown, Junior Brown and sisters, Juanita Hefner, Pearl Fowler and Della Cheek.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Bush River Memorial Gardens in Columbia. The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm prior to the service.
