James R. Hudson Jr.

James R. Hudson Jr., 86, of Lexington, SC passed away on January 15, 2026 at his home and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus. James was born on November 27, 1939 in Tampa, FL. He served in the Airforce as an airplane engine mechanic for 4 years. Afterwards he pursued college for a degree in banking. He had a long-dedicated career in banking and retired from Wells Fargo. He served on the board to open Trinity Bible College in Pasco County.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cherishing the moments shared with those closest to him. He enjoyed the many cruises and trips to other countries with his wife and close friends. Hunting and fishing were fun hobbies while living part time between Palm Harbor, FL, Bryson City, NC, and Lexington, SC. He could build anything and worked hard in all renovations at Deep Creek and Crystal Bay Properties. He was passionate about the Lord and sharing the Gospel every chance his got. He always shared a special handshake that was unforgettable and ended with the question of do you know where you will spend eternity. He became a member of First Baptist of Lexington where he enjoyed the OWLS program and the SOS life group before his health deteriorated. He enjoyed attending the worship services any chance he was able.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Loretta Hudson, and their 2 daughters, Darlene Hudson, Sheri Schipp (Jim), and son, James R. Hudson III; 5 grandchildren, Aubrey Trothier (Cooper), Joseph Schipp (Emily), Maci Hudson, Gracie Blake (Malachi), and Natalie Schipp; 3 great-grandchildren, Hudson Lee Trothier, Selah Mae Blake, and soon to arrive Sonny Allen Schipp; and his sister, Arlene Katz.

He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Hudson Sr.; mother, Edith Eileen Hudson; sister, Christine Hudson Narvaez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at First Baptist of Lexington, 415 Barr Road Lexington, SC 29072, starting at 10:00am with a celebration of life service immediately following at 11:00am.
