

LEXINGTON - On the evening of September 19, 2016, Jim passed away at home in Lexington, SC after a long battle with heart disease and cancer. Jim was 83 years old. Jim Manship was born in the town of Miami-Dade County, Florida on November 4, 1932. Jim had a life full of many adventures to include 22 years in the United States Army serving our country in the Vietnam War, earning two Purple Hearts and several other commendations. After retiring from the military, Jim then served 19 years in the South Carolina Law Enforcement Department. After retiring from his life of serving the Government and State, Jim then became a member of the South Carolina State Ceramic Association, where he became the State Treasurer and Chairman, which he enjoyed for many years. He was responsible for initiating the yearly fundraiser for the Greenville Shriners Children's Hospital. Over the years he raised over $10,000 in donations for the children's foundation. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeannie Manship; his daughter, June Texidor (Hiram); grandchildren, Jennifer Lopez, Joe Lopez, Piper-Lynn Davis (Dakota); his beloved dog, Sugar, and his beloved Ceramic Association family. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
