

LEXINGTON – Funeral services for James Wallace Sox, 84, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 23, 2012 at Lexington Baptist Church, 308 East Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072 with interment to follow in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to Lexington Baptist Church.
Mr. Sox was born May 30, 1928 in Lexington, SC and passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. He was a son of the late William Henry Sox and Annie Lou Harman Sox. He was a graduate of Lexington High School Class of 1945. He was employed with Southern Railroad before going to Southern Bell Tel and Tel Company. He retired from there in 1986 with 38 years of service ending his career as a Supervising Engineer. He was the longest living member of Lexington Baptist Church being put on the Craddle Roll at birth and served as an usher for 60 years and was the church historian. He was a multitalented person enjoying his yard work and ferns, but his biggest enjoyment was his 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sox is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Jo Mathias Sox; daughters, Donna (Stan) Miller, Denise (Dennis) Kendrick; 4 grandchildren, Jarrell Smith, Joel Miller, Carrie (Jay) Henderson and Devin (Kristi) Kendrick; 2 great-grandchildren, Maddie and Ethan Miller; brother, Frank (Bobbie) Sox; sister, Anne (Roger) Alewine; sister-in-law, Barbara Sox and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ray Sox.
