
CHAPIN - A graveside service for Kenneth Heyward Driggers, 74, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Doctor Kyle Hite officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Harry Heyward Hornsby, Jr., David Wayne Hornsby, Kenny, Kevin and Kelly Hite and Toby Turner. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
Mr. Driggers was born November 9, 1937 in Columbia, SC and died Wednesday, February 29, 2012. He was the son of the late Noah Heyward Driggers and Agnes Gault Whorton. Mr. Driggers was a graduate of Dreher High School and attended Erskine College. He was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean conflict. Kenny worked in Auto Financing with Ford Motor Credit and American Discount. In addition to auto financing, he was very successful in Automobile After Market Sales. During his thirty plus year professional career, Mr. Driggers and his family lived in Columbia, SC, Atlanta, GA and Edisto Island, SC. While at Edisto he was very active in Trinity Episcopal Church, The Edisto Island Yacht Club, Edisto Island Lions Club and Committee Chairman of Ducks Unlimited. While on the island, he was very involved providing assistance and support to James Edwards Elementary School PTA.
Survivors include four sons, Kent Tomlin Vickery, David Kirkland Vickery, Timothy Kenneth Driggers (Heather) and Noah Axle Driggers and seven grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Adams (Carlton), Janelle Womack (Dooley); brothers, Robert “Bob” Whorton (Marilyn), Harry Heyward Hornsby (Mary Alva) and Teddy Wayne Hornsby (Velma).
