IRMO – Larry Wendell Hilton, Sr., 75, of Irmo, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Born on July 14, 1937, he was raised in Kershaw, SC. Larry was the youngest son of James Monroe Hilton, Jr. and Annice Fulmer Hilton of Kershaw. Larry was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Sandra Hart Hilton of Spartanburg; his sister, Patricia Hilton Cook of Columbia and brother, James Monroe Hilton, III of California. Larry is survived by his son, Larry Wendell Hilton Jr. (Rooter) of Irmo and his grandson, Ashton Hilton and his daughter, Ashley Carson Hilton of Irmo and grandson, Gavin Blaine Hightower.
Mr. Hilton was a graduate of USC and played saxophone in the marching band. He served as a lifeguard in Myrtle Beach in the late 1950’s and also played the saxophone at the Ocean Forest Hotel among other venues. Larry loved the outdoors, snow skiing and Lake Murray, which enjoyment he shared with his children and many others.
A memorial service will be held at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and family after the service at the funeral home.
