LEXINGTON – Lawrence Jordan, known by his friends as a true Renaissance Man, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 28, 2016 at the age of 69. Larry, with his always-present smile, was the Postmaster of Columbia for almost a decade. In retirement, he served as Director of the Capital Senior Advisory Center now known as the Lourie Center.
In recent years, you could find Larry expressing his creative woodworking talents, reading or writing poetry at the library, going to movies at the Nick, and spending time with his beloved wife and family. Larry was deliberate and artful with his words and a master of prayer.
Surviving are his wife, Sandi Jordan; sons, Grant Gillespie (Rebecca) and Gavin Gillespie (Amanda Van Wyk); daughter, Gina Román (Javi); grandchildren, Piper and Finn Gillespie, and one on-the-way, Jordan Marcelo Román.
A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church in Columbia, South Carolina, to be followed by a burial service at Woodridge Memorial Park, Lexington, South Carolina. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia (www.bbbsgc.org) in honor of Larry Jordan. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.caughmanharmanfuneralhome.net.
