

Linda Perry Croxton Davis of Lexington died peacefully at her home June 30, 2025. She was born April 18, 1949, to Leroy Springs and Carolyn Perry Croxton in Lancaster, South Carolina. Linda and her husband, E. Earle Davis, had just celebrated their 54th Anniversary on June 12 of this year.
Upon graduating from Kershaw High School with honors in 1967, she initially attended the University of South Carolina's Lancaster Extension and completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education at USC Columbia in December 1970. She began her teaching career at Lexington Elementary School, where she remained until 1978 before transitioning to various private preschools as a Kindergarten teacher. In 1986, she co-founded the South Lake Child Center, managing its operations until 1996. Subsequently, she entered the optical field, working with several Optometrists until her retirement in 2013.
Linda has been a member of Lexington Presbyterian Church since just after their founding in 1974. She had been active in different Circles as well as serving as President of the WIC. She also was a long-time member of the choir until suffering vocal cord damage, which ended her participation. She was also active in the Lexington Jaycee Wives, holding several offices including President.
She is survived by her children, James Edward Davis (Virginia) of West Columbia, Jessica Lyn Davis-Simpson (Kevin) of Iva, SC and Ryan Christopher Davis (Barbara) of Columbia; grandchildren, Cade Wilson Simpson, Case Weston Simpson, Corbin Leroy Davis and Lillian Frances Davis: sisters, Carol Croxton Craft of Gainesville, Georgia and Teresa Croxton Arneson (Bob) of Lexington. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother-in-law, Charles E. Craft.
Visitation will be held at Lexington Presbyterian Church at 10 o’clock in the Welcome Center, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 o’clock in the Sanctuary. The Graveside Service will follow at the Davis Family Plot in Elmwood Cemetery, Columbia.
