Born on March 3, 1937 in Columbia, South Carolina, Margaret was the daughter of the late Billie Margaret Pearce and the late Leland Martin, and granddaughter of the late William Northington Pearce and the late Margaret Elizabeth Robinson Pearce. Margaret had such fond memories growing up on Pawleys Island with her grandparents, Bill and “NaNa” and shared many stories living on the South Carolina coast with her notoriously adventurous grandfather. As a young girl, she could be found strolling the beach or walking through Brookgreen Gardens, one of her favorite places of all time.
Margaret, a devoted Catholic, married Johnny Isaac in 1957 and they enjoyed 61 years of marital devotion to one another until Johnny’s passing on February 21, 2018. Margaret and Johnny had two devoted boys, the loves of her life - Mike and Tim Isaac. Throughout her boys’ youth and into their college and adult years, Margaret loved every aspect of being their mom and taught them the importance of cherishing one’s family. Throughout the moves, Margaret was a devoted wife and mother always ensuring her sons' education and interests came first.
Another passion of Margaret’s was her love for all living beings, and it was common to see her feeding the birds and squirrels in her backyard and saving the insects that ventured into her home. She was an avid poetry writer and shared her love of writing with others through her published book of poetry. Margaret was also a keen ping-pong player, often putting together “family championship games” during the holidays. Above all, Margaret loved her family and cherished fond memories of being a grandmother and great grandmother.
Margaret Isaac is survived by her two sons, Mike (Karla) of Litchfield Beach, SC and Tim (Beverly) of Gilbert, SC; four grandchildren, Michael (Adam), Dr. Mitchell (Dr. Julianne), Matthew, and Rachel; two great grandsons, Kaleb and Keegan; great granddaughter, Isabella Grace; sister, Jacqueline Cowand; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Isaac (Brenda) of Athens, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Margaret will be deeply missed by her family and friends; however, her legacy of kindness and compassion will live on through the many lives that she touched.
The family will honor Margaret’s wishes to be cremated and will have a private family celebration of her life. The family would like to thank the staff at Oakleaf Village Memory Care and Wellmore Skilled Nursing where she participated in their many social activities with friends and received quality care.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.caughmanlexington.com for the Isaac family.
