

LEXINGTON – Margaret R. Richardson, of Lexington, SC, passed away on May 9, 2017 at Lexington Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Hendersonville, NC to Ernest J. Reaves and Beulah Huffman Reaves Jordan and raised in Darlington, SC. She graduated from St. John’s High School and the University of South Carolina. She spent over 40 years of her working career serving the people of the State of South Carolina in various roles, predominately within the human resources community. After retirement from the state, she continued to serve by helping children with reading in local schools, volunteering at a local food bank, and helping anyone she could. She was regularly in attendance at Faith United Methodist Church in Lexington.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and step-father, Howard L. Jordan; her uncle, C.C. Huffman (Evelyn) and her aunt, Clara H. Andrews (J. E.). She is survived by her son, Joel M. Richardson, Jr.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Gail Walker; grandson, Jonathan Davis Walker; three brothers, Burt D. (DeLette) Jordan, Robert P. (Mary Jo) Jordan, and H. Russell (Billie) Jordan, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith United Methodist Church in Lexington, Sistercare or Lexington Interfaith Community Service.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Faith United Methodist Church, 5151 Sunset Boulevard, Lexington, SC.
Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
