

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sandra Morris Anderson of Lexington, South Carolina, and John L. McCravy, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents: Laura Bell Morris of New Holland, South Carolina; and Major George Morris (U.S. Army, Ret.); Agnes Finnegan McCravy and John LaBorde McCravy of Columbia; and two of his uncles: Frederic J. Foley of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Michael B. McCravy of Lufkin, Texas.
He is survived by two aunts, Sharon M. Stewart of Hillsboro, Oregon and Mary Ann McCravy of Surprise, Arizona, and uncle, Don D. McCravy of Surprise, Arizona; and six first cousins: Michele Mitchell of Roanoke, Texas, Kathleen Blair and Patrick Foley, both of Pahrump, Nevada, Matthew Stewart of Hillsboro, Oregon, Shannon Terrill of Euless, Texas, and Kristina Agne of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by his stepfather, Tom Anderson of Lexington, SC.
After Mark’s graduation from high school in 1979, he followed a time-honored family tradition by serving on active duty in the military. Mark completed over two years in the United States Air Force as a Security Specialist and was honorable discharged in July of 1982.
He held a variety of jobs in his adult life, many of them in food service arena. Mark was certified as a chef after completing a vigorous course in culinary arts offered through the University of South Carolina. Mark was a soft-spoken gentle man who loved animals. He supported organizations which rescued, cared for, and found good homes for abandoned and homeless animals. He also shared a love for the game of golf with his dad and his uncles. Being of English, Scottish, and Irish descent, he could not help but love the game – it was in his blood.
A memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia.
