LEXINGTON – Mark Murphy, age 65, husband, father and grandfather, left us way too soon on November 20, 2018 after a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Mark was born in Cleveland, OH, to William Murphy and Jean Koerner Murphy on December 24, 1952.
His greatest joy and accomplishment was his family. Mark is survived by his wife, Terri, whom he married on November 28, 1975; daughters, Michelle (Brad) Kifer, Molly (Chad) Bruorton, Erin (Eddie) Slanina; son, Mark W. (Ashley) Murphy and his dog, Pudgy. He loved being grandpa/papa to his seven grandchildren, who he was so proud of: Zach and Peyton Kifer, William Murphy, Chandler, Harper and Robert Bruorton and Morgan Slanina.
Mark was the owner of Sam’s Fine Wine & Spirits where he worked alongside his son. Sam’s has many employees, and each and every one were very special to him. Mark loved playing golf, watching sports, especially the Cleveland Browns and South Carolina Gamecocks. Most importantly, Mark enjoyed spending time with his family that his wife named “the Murphy 17”.
Mark is also survived by his two sisters, Eileen (Bill) Ramus and Ann Kostell; brother, Gerry (Judy) Murphy, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mark is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Murphy and Paul Murphy and brother-in-law, Don Kostell.
The family would like to thank Nurse Amy and CNA Yalanda with Amedysis Hospice Care for their kindness and care during the last few weeks, as well as Dr. Wells, Nurse Jackie, and Nurse Tess with Lexington Oncology Associates for their support and care throughout his battle.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Mark touched are invited to Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, for a visitation on Monday, November 26, 2018, from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm.
