IRMO - Ms. Mary Noto Steadman, 64, of Irmo, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018.
Services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 1pm with Pastor Scott Holland and Pastor Ronald Diegel officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12pm to 1pm. Immediately following the service a reception for the celebration of Mary’s life will be held at the River Road House, 2204 North Lake Drive, Columbia, SC 29212. Viewing will be from 11am to 1pm in the narthex of the church.
Pallbearers will be David Noto, Tim Meetze, Charlie Meetze, Mike Epting, Robbie Thornton and John Eleazer.Born in Columbia on April 24, 1954, Mary was the daughter of the late Nicholas D. and Dorothy Lindler Noto.
A graduate of Columbia High School and the University of South Carolina, she retired from the IRS, Excise Tax Group, and was the recipient of the Albert Gallatin award. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving faithfully in many capacities – she was a former church council member; a member of the Keisler Women’s Circle and the Starlighters; and she was the current chair of the worship/music committee. She was also a member of the choir and the handbell choir and served as substitute organist at Bethlehem and many other area churches and the New Life Chapel and Living Word Chapel at The Heritage at Lowman. She was a member of American Guild of Organists and American Lutheran Musicians. Mary also volunteered as the house manager for the Chapin Theatre Company (Harbison Theatre of MTC and Chapin Firehouse Theatre).
She is survived by her loving and devoted family: brother, David G. Noto; aunt, Evelyn L. (Harold) Epting; and many loving cousins who adored her. She is also survived by her many dear and special friends whom she loved and treasured so very much. She was predeceased by cousins, Janice E. Thornton and Timothy C. Lindler.
The family wishes to thank Bettie Rowe and Dottie McKay for their special and loving care during Mary’s illness. Mary, we love you so much and will miss you beyond words.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Worship and Music Committee; SCOA Cares Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.
