
LEXINGTON - Melissa Leigh Bickley died Sunday, August 14, 2011. She was the special needs daughter of Neil and Lu Bickley of Lexington. Melissa was born June 16, 1977. She was an early graduate of Richland Memorial Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Melissa lived at home for 5 ½ years. Because of multiple health issues, she went to live at Midlands Center February 1, 1983.
She is survived by her parents; a brother, Jim (Elizabeth) of Lexington; a sister, Laura Cox (Brandon) of Statesboro, GA; grandmother, Kathryn W. Liverman; grandfather, Ray O Bickley; one niece, Katie Beth Bickley; three nephews, Fulmer Bickley, Peyton Bickley, and Thomas Cox; aunt, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by grandfather, Dr. James S. Liverman and grandmother, Marlene L. Bickley.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 17 at 4 pm St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lexington, SC. Honorary pallbearers will be staff and caregivers from Midlands Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midlands Center Family Council, 8301 Farrow Road, Columbia, SC 29203 or St Stephen’s Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to all the caregivers and staff at Midlands Center for the loving care and compassion shown to Melissa over the years. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
