

Neal Randal Westbrook, after several years of declining physical health, went to be with his heavenly Lord on December 23, 2025 . He was 65 years old. Born on December 17, 1960, in Anderson County, he was predeceased by his parents, Thadeous Herbert Westbrook, Jr., and Margaret Virginia Wynn of Cayce. Predeceased siblings include the Honorable Marc Herbert Westbrook, Anna Virginia Westbrook, and James Timothy Westbrook. Surviving siblings are Reverend Doctor Charles Norris Westbrook (Jane) and Dorothy Gaye Westbrook Luyster (Mark). He was previously married to Laura Talbert Westbrook of Asheville, North Carolina.
A memorial service for Neal will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home at 3:00 PM, Lexington Chapel. A candle will be lit in memory of those pre-deceased.
Neal was an avid golfer. Golf was also his profession. He received a degree from Horry-Georgetown Technical College in Myrtle Beach, SC in golf course management. He attended Midlands Technical College and completed several computer courses. He was the State Junior Golf Champion from Lexington Country Cub in the early 1970's while at Lexington High School. He was also state champion in North Carolina while at Erwin High School in Asheville, NC. Neal’s greatest skills were in the area of Grow-in Superintendent, which he demonstrated in the development for a number of golf courses across the southeastern United States, including The Farm golf course in Dalton, Georgia, Eagle’s Landing Golf Course in Stockbridge, GA, the Uwharrie Golf Course in North Carolina, Thornblade Golf Course, the Old Great North Golf Course, and The Cliffs Golf Course in Asheville, NC. He was the golf course superintendent of Cheraw Golf Course in South Carolina for 10 years. From that time Neal moved to Asheville and continued his work in the golf management field both in North and South Carolina. He had a pleasing personality and was well received by those who were fortunate to know him. His family will greatly miss him.
